'Little Moonshine' & 'Desert Eve' Yarrow
'Little Moonshine' is like the famous 'Moonshine', but less so. If you are familiar with yarrow, it's one of my favorite native plants, but it grows so tall and blooms so profusely that it will need support. It gets leggy and falls over. It has bright yellow flowers and grey-green fern-like, foliage in a smaller, more compact package that tops out at 14," ('Desert Eve Red' gets about 18" tall) it is a must-have for any cottage garden. It is simple to grow, low maintenance, thrives in the overbearing, NC heat. It is drought tolerant with wide, flat blooms that are nice for cut flower arrangements. It has a long blooming period: June through September. It grows best in full sun but will tolerate a little shade. It is loved by butterflies and deer and rabbit resistant.
